A Brief History of the College

Govt. Women’s College was initially started in the name of Women’s College ,Keonjhar by some enthusiastic  and generous public in  september,1979 in the Panchayat Bhawan under private management. It is located at the headquarters of Keonjhar district in Northern part of Orissa. The locality  around the college has deep forests, mountains, streams and falls. Plenty of minerals resources, abundant flora and fauna, natural scenery and religious monuments attract a large number of visitors to this area.

The college imparts higher education to women of different castes and tribes. Girls from remote areas of  this district join this institution to pursuit higher education. Taking into consideration the contributions of the institution in Aug,1983 the College has been  taken over by Government. At Present it is an academic centre of higher learning imparting teaching for +3 Arts with Pass and Honours .

The College has got permission for +3 Degree Science for the session 2014-15.  The College plays a vital role in improvement of women to meet the challenges of the 21st  Century through dissemination of knowledge and values.
